Our History
Built on Integrity. Growing Since 1972.
In November of 1972, Chester Bambarger set out with three wreckers and a rented building in Tuscaloosa, determined to build a company that put service and dependability first. By 1980, Bambarger Wrecker Service had grown enough to move into its current home at 2700 35th Street, expanding into a full-service operation with a front-end and frame shop, body shop, and a fleet of sixteen tow trucks — from light-duty to heavy-duty.
That same year, Chester helped shape the future of the towing industry in Alabama. He was a founding member of the Alabama Towing and Recovery Association, serving as its first Vice President and later as President for six years. He remained a respected voice on the board until his passing in 2015.
Over the decades, Bambarger Wrecker Service has earned a reputation as one of Alabama’s most trusted towing companies. Today, Chester’s legacy lives on through his sons, Heath and Adam Bambarger, who continue to lead the business with the same integrity, hard work, and commitment to excellence.
From a small three-truck operation to the largest wrecker service in Tuscaloosa and West Alabama, Bambarger Wrecker Service now serves the entire Southeast and beyond — always ready, always reliable, just as Chester intended.
